The Thing is an American-made soft plastic creature bait with a bulky, multi-appendage design that creates high water displacement to trigger big bass reactions. Manufactured in Houston, Texas by WM Bayou (GulfStream Outdoors). Designed for flipping, pitching, and punching heavy cover where trophy largemouth bass hide.
Primary rigs: Texas rig (3/8–3/4 oz tungsten weight for flipping and pitching), punch rig (1+ oz pegged weight for driving through matted vegetation), jig trailer (adds bulk and appendage action behind a flipping jig), and Carolina rig (1/2–3/4 oz for dragging structure). Hook: 4/0–5/0 EWG wide-gap hook.
The Thing's multiple appendages create maximum water displacement and vibration — bass in heavy cover feel it coming before they see it. High-bulk profile mimics a bluegill or large crawfish. Especially effective for trophy bass hunting large prey items in thick cover.
