The Dilly Bug is a soft plastic bug/craw hybrid bait hand-poured by WM Bayou in Houston, Texas. Its segmented body and wide-set claws create natural fluttering action on the fall — imitating a crawfish, hellgrammite, or aquatic insect. American-made, designed for Southern bass fishing conditions.
Most versatile rigs: Texas rig (1/4–1/2 oz bullet weight, 3/0–4/0 EWG hook for cover), football jig trailer (drags naturally on gravel/rock bottom), punch rig (heavy 1+ oz weight with heavy braid for mat penetration), and shaky head (1/8–1/4 oz for open water finesse). Baitcasting gear: 7'2" medium-heavy, 15–20 lb fluorocarbon for most applications.
Peak performance: pre-spawn and spawn (March–May) when bass are keyed on crawfish, summer when bass push crawfish against rocks and laydowns, and fall when crawfish are active in shallow water. Works year-round on Texas/Louisiana bass, especially on pressured lakes where standard craw profiles are over-fished.
